Prominent businessman Mohamed Abul Enein, the honorary speaker of the Euro-Mediterranean Parliament, said that Egypt is one of the first countries that participate actively in peacekeeping operations throughout the world and currently contributes about 2,659 members of the armed forces, 450 of police personnel and 128 military experts. Together, these troops occupy the seventh rank in the world in the peacekeeping forces.

During his meeting with Jean-Pierre Lacroix, the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Abul Enein added that achieving development is one of the key solutions for preventing crises and achieving sustainable peace at a time when many conflicts ensue due to economic reasons, especially in the African continent.
