Arab League (AL) Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit held phone talks on Sunday with United Nations (UN) Chief Antonio Guterres, in order to exchange views on the current dangerous situation in Sudan.
Moreover, Aboul Gheit informed Guterres of AL's position on the need to stop the escalation and restore calm to Sudan as soon as possible.
During the call, he indicated readiness to work together with the UN to achieve an immediate cessation of armed clashes and bloodshed, and to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
Furthermore, Aboul Gheit listened to the UN General Secretary's assessment of the situation, and they agreed on the need to intensify contacts with the fighting leaders in order to put an end to the confrontations.
