Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said he discussed regional tensions and ways to ease them during a visit to Bahrain.
Aboul Gheit said he was honored to meet King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, extending congratulations on Bahrain’s National Day. The talks focused on current developments in the region and prospects for reducing prevailing tensions, he added.
The Arab League chief expressed hope that the coming year would bring improved conditions for the Arab world, amid ongoing political and security challenges.
He also praised the Bahraini monarch’s assessment of the regional situation, describing it as reflecting wisdom and a far-sighted vision in addressing the Arab region’s complex issues.
The meeting comes as Arab states continue diplomatic efforts to promote stability and dialogue across a region marked by conflicts and geopolitical uncertainty.
