Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit called for deeper investment in Arab youth, stressing that empowering young leaders is essential for navigating rapid global transformations and securing the region’s future.
Speaking at the opening session of the Arab Youth Leaders Meeting 2026 in Dubai, Aboul Gheit said the Arab world’s greatest asset lies in its young population, not only in numbers but in creativity, adaptability and ambition. He emphasized that the real challenge is not recognizing the importance of youth, but building capable leadership able to turn challenges into opportunities.
Aboul Gheit highlighted the meeting as a regional platform based on partnership with youth rather than addressing them from afar, noting recent Arab ministerial decisions aimed at strengthening youth empowerment and leadership development. He praised the United Arab Emirates for hosting the event and for its model in supporting youth-driven development across the Arab world.
