Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit urged deeper Arab-Indian coordination as geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty and humanitarian crises strain the global order.

Speaking at the second ministerial meeting of the Arab-Indian Cooperation Forum, Aboul Gheit thanked India for hosting the long-awaited session, noting that its convening reflects a shared awareness of the gravity of the current moment and the need for closer consultation and joint action.

He said the Arab League remains committed to strengthening institutional ties with India, built on memorandums of understanding signed in 2008 and 2013, and highlighted growing cooperation in trade, culture, media and education. Trade between India and Arab states has reached about $240 billion, he said.

Aboul Gheit stressed that stability in the Arab region is vital to global security and supply chains, warning that continued conflict — particularly the war in Gaza — threatens regional and international peace. He reiterated support for a two-state solution as a moral and strategic necessity.
