A number of Egyptian industrialists abroad and internally participated in the first virtual discussion seminar within the series of seminars that constitute the first phase of the activities of the "Egypt Can Industry" conference.
The conference was held yesterday and attended by the Minister of Immigration Ambassador Nabila Makram, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning, prominent Egyptian economist Baroness Dr. “Nemat Shafiq”, and Dr. Hany Damian, former Minister of Finance.
The conference was held with the aim to support the localization of Egyptian industry and manufacturers around the world and encourage them to industrial investment within their home country, in cooperation between the Ministry of State for Immigration And the affairs of Egyptians abroad, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Small projects
During the seminar, Mohamed Al-Sowaidi, head of the Federation of Industries, said that the government is working on industrial reunification, but the informal sector or the parallel economy is negatively affecting the economy.
On his part, Ahmed Maghawri, a deputy for the Minister of Trade and Industry, said: "We should not rely on imports only, but opening the way for small projects and projects that aim to meet our needs of the local product has become an imperative now." He added: "We must take advantage of the opportunities available around We have to learn from the Covid-19 pandemic and go across borders and we need to develop a very clear industrial map. "
Global Competition
On his part, MP Mohamed Aboul Enein, Chairman of the Cleopatra Group, explained that Egypt entered the fourth industrial revolution with strength and success, and we must pay attention to the global competition in competitiveness that talks about added value and productivity, two topics of great importance, because the fourth industrial revolution means how to reach value Added, and we must monitor the giants of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to attract them to the Egyptian market to train our children and benefit from their experiences.
Aboul Enein added that countries will not be able to rely on China as a permanent supplier, and we need an alternative, and Egypt must be the alternative to the countries of the region, and Europe is looking for an alternative and their biggest partner that can replace China is the countries of North Africa and Africa in general, and he continued: "I hope that our numbers reflect Egypt's real capabilities. "
