In a strong affirmation of Egypt’s growing commitment to social inclusion, the "Sot Moaq" Association hosted a celebration marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, coinciding with the inauguration and development of the first phase of Al-Zohour Model Village.

The event was held under the umbrella of the National Alliance for Civil and Developmental Work, with active participation and support from the Abou El-Enein Charitable Foundation.

The celebration brought together senior officials, civil society leaders, and representatives of supporting institutions, highlighting a collective effort to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities and ensure their full integration into society.

Among the prominent attendees was Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women, alongside Dr. Amani Asfour, Chairperson of the Board of the Sot Moaq Association. Also present was Mrs. Somaya Abou El-Enein, Vice Chairperson of the Abou El-Enein Foundation, who delivered a message emphasizing that supporting persons with disabilities is not a temporary initiative, but a sustained humanitarian and societal commitment.

“True empowerment begins with education and rehabilitation,” Mrs. Abou El-Enein said, stressing that inclusive development must ultimately lead to full societal integration, dignity, and equal opportunity.

Representatives from the Ministries of Interior and Health attended the event, along with public figures and partner organizations, reflecting the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing disability rights and services.

The inauguration of the first phase of Al-Zohour Model Village included the preparation of educational, sensory, and cognitive development rooms designed specifically for children with disabilities. These facilities aim to enhance children’s abilities, stimulate learning, and provide a safe and supportive educational environment tailored to their needs.

During the ceremony, Mrs. Somaya Abou El-Enein was honored in recognition of the Abou El-Enein Foundation’s outstanding role in supporting persons with disabilities. Beyond infrastructural development, the foundation has extended direct humanitarian support to children, reinforcing the message that caring for persons with disabilities is a continuous national responsibility, not limited to symbolic occasions.
