Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Dr. Badr Abdel Aty met with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov on Friday.
The meeting was part of his meetings on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.
Abdel Aty emphasized the importance of leveraging the current momentum in bilateral relations to enhance cooperation across various fields, particularly in trade and investment.
He highlighted Egypt's priority in building on the agreements reached during the 11th round of political consultations between the two foreign ministries, held in Tashkent in September 2024, as well as the discussions of the 7th session of the Egyptian-Uzbek Joint Committee for Economic and Technical Cooperation in December 2024.
In this context, both sides discussed the need to continue efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Egyptian and Uzbek business communities.
The Foreign Minister underscored the Egyptian business sector’s keen interest in several areas, particularly textiles, infrastructure, and the food industry, in addition to joint manufacturing projects with Uzbek companies in Egypt.
The discussions also covered opportunities to enhance collaboration in the pharmaceutical sector, including facilitating the entry of Egyptian pharmaceutical products into the Uzbek market and exploring investment and joint manufacturing prospects to localize pharmaceutical industries in Uzbekistan.
