At least nine people lost their lives on Sunday when a small aircraft crashed into a commercial area in the popular tourist city of Gramado, located in southern Brazil, according to local authorities.
Kleber dos Santos Lima, Director of Internal Affairs for the Civil Police of Rio Grande do Sul, confirmed the fatalities, stating, "Nine individuals were confirmed dead by civil defense services, and there are no survivors aboard the plane."
The aircraft involved was identified as a Piper Cheyenne 400, registered under the number PR-NDN, according to flight tracking platform Flightradar24.
This tragedy follows another aviation disaster in Brazil on August 9, when a domestic flight crashed in São Paulo state, leaving all 62 passengers and crew aboard dead.
