At least nine people have been killed following a devastating explosion at a fireworks workshop in central Thailand, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
The blast occurred on Wednesday in Suphan Buri province, located about 95 kilometers northwest of Bangkok. The region, known for its rice fields, was shaken by the explosion. The exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
According to the Samerkun Suphan Buri Rescue Foundation, nine individuals lost their lives at the scene, while two others were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Images and videos from the site showed shattered wooden structures scattered across lush green rice paddies, highlighting the severity of the blast.
This tragic event follows a similar explosion in the same area in January 2024, which killed around 20 people. Another major incident occurred in July 2023, when a fireworks warehouse explosion in southern Thailand claimed the lives of at least 10 people and injured more than 100 others.
