Eight people, including six security personnel, were killed on Saturday in an alleged suicide attack targeting a police and military checkpoint in western Pakistan.
The attacker reportedly approached the security checkpoint on a rickshaw before detonating an explosive device.
According to senior officials who spoke with Agence France-Presse, five others were wounded, three of whom are reported to be in critical condition.
One police officer explained that due to the nature of the explosion and the proximity of the attack, casualties among security forces were high.
While no group has yet claimed responsibility, such attacks are often attributed to insurgent groups that have targeted security forces in the past.
