At least eight people were killed and 12 others wounded in Israeli shelling on the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek, Lebanese media reported on Wednesday, as the Israeli military announced a fresh warning ahead of a potential strike in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The reported casualties mark a rise in the toll from the attack on Baalbek, located in the Bekaa Valley, an area considered a stronghold of Hezbollah.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces said it had issued a new warning regarding a strike targeting the Harat Hreik area in the southern suburb of Beirut. Harat Hreik is known as a densely populated district and a key Hezbollah stronghold.
In a further statement, the Israeli military said it had struck 250 Hezbollah targets over the past 48 hours, as cross-border hostilities intensify.
The escalating exchanges come amid mounting regional tensions, with fears that continued strikes on urban centers could widen the conflict.
