An explosion at an ammunition factory in western India on Friday has resulted in the deaths of at least eight people.
The incident occurred in the Bhandara district of Maharashtra, located more than 800 kilometers from Mumbai, the economic capital of India, causing the factory roof to collapse.
India’s Minister of Road Transport confirmed the tragic explosion, which also left seven others injured. Authorities are investigating the cause of the blast, though details remain scarce at this time.
Earlier, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, took to social media to report that at least 14 workers were trapped inside the factory building.
Rescue operations were immediately launched, with efforts ongoing to reach those still trapped.
