About 70 Japanese volunteers, 50 of them were previously in Self-Defence Forces, expressed their desire to respond to the Ukrainian authorities' call to fight in Ukraine, according to the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper.

Mainichi reported that the source of these numbers is from Ukrainian Embassy in Tokyo.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that on Feb 24, Russia launched a private military operation to protect people who were eliminated and exterminated by Kyv’s system for 8 years.

Putin stated that the situation needed to disarm Ukraine and protect the people in Donbas.

West countries responded to Moscow’s move by imposing unprecedented economic sanctions against Russia.

On the other hand, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine, announced last Feb 27 about establishing a special military unit in which foreign soldiers will participate in war. On the same day, the Ukrainian Embassy in Japan announced on Twitter about recruiting Japanese volunteers to fight in Ukraine.
