The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that six US service members have been killed since the start of the war with Iran.
The military command said American forces recovered the remains of two previously missing soldiers from a facility targeted during Iran’s initial attacks, raising the official death toll.
US President Donald Trump outlined four main objectives for the conflict during remarks at the White House.
These include destroying Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities, eliminating its naval forces, preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and stopping it from supporting armed proxy groups across the Middle East, including Hezbollah and Hamas.
Trump said US military operations, launched Friday, are progressing ahead of schedule and could last several weeks.
He emphasized that the central goal is to block Iran’s nuclear ambitions and dismantle its long-range missile program, warning that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a serious threat to the Middle East and the US.
