Giza criminal court headed by chancellor Shaaban Al Shamy sentenced on Monday six defendants to death over the case known publicly as Kerdasa Public Resistance Committee (PRC).

Moreover, the court sentenced 41 defendants to life in jail, and another seven received 15 years. Meanwhile, fourteen people were acquitted in the same case.

Noteworthy, the prosecution in the case referred the defendants to court over charges of forming and operating a gang called “The Public Resistance Committee in Kerdasa and Nahia" (districts in Greater Cairo) in defiance of the provisions of the constitution and the law, with the aim of preventing state institutions from carrying out their duties via the use of terrorism and violence to achieve their goals.

They were also charged with the murder of three people, including a police conscript, as well as the possession of firearms, ammunition, TNT explosives, and using of force against public servants.

Earlier this month, Banha criminal court sentenced three men to death for killing four policemen in Qalioubiya in 2016.

In February 2016, the convicted men shot at a police patrol in Seryaoos village in Khanka, killing a police officer and three others.

The police were attempting to raid a criminal hideout in the village, according to investigations.
