At least six people were killed in a series of coordinated attacks in Balochistan, a province in southwestern Pakistan that has seen a surge in violence, a police official confirmed early Thursday.
According to the official, armed militants targeted passenger buses and security forces in multiple locations, resulting in the deaths of five civilians from other provinces and one security officer.
The attackers reportedly stopped the buses, identifying and targeting non-local passengers.
Dozens of gunmen carried out assaults across different areas, seizing control of major highways and setting up roadblocks to inspect vehicles. Some of the attacks were still ongoing at the time of the report.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the violence.
