On Thursday, Syrian actress Sulaf Fawakherji and director Jude Saied participated in several talks with journalists on the sidelines of the 45 Cairo International Film Festival.

Fawakherji participated at the festival with her film “Salma” which is competing at the festival’s Horizons of Arab Cinema.

Earlier, Fawakherji talked about the film after its main screening on Wednesday. She expressed her pleasure to participate at the festival, and sharing this experience with the Egyptian audience.

She also highlighted that the film traces true stories for women in the society and how the wishes of having home, dignity, and security turn to be huge dreams.

The film also concentrates on the suffering of the Syrian women in the light of the challenges and major events the Syrian society witnesses for more than a decade.

The Syrian actress also asserted that the actor or the artist can not be separated from the changes in his/her community, and this experience can be applied to the women in Lebanon, and Palestine, not only Syria.

The events of the film revolve around Salma who lost her husband after the destructive earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria. She always waits for him, therefore, she participates in the process and campaigns of searching and saving the survivors. After the earthquake, Salma’s dreams are just home and security.
