The Indonesian Disaster Management Department announced that the death toll from floods and volcanic lava flows on the island of Sumatra, west of the country, has risen to 41 dead, and 17 are missing.
Disaster Management Agency official Elham Wahab said, "Last night we recorded 37 deaths, but since Monday morning the number has risen to 41 deaths."
According to the Russia Today website, he added that rescuers are searching for 17 people who are still missing, stressing that “the authorities are still receiving reports of missing persons.”
