Nearly 40 people were injured, at least, as a result of clashes that took place between residents and the Indian army in the northeastern state of Manipur.
The Economic Times newspaper said that the clashes broke out in the Bishnupur district, and local residents of the local Kuki tribe violated the curfew.
Residents attacked the checkpoints set up by soldiers on the highways due to the curfew.
They were injured when the army used tear gas and rubber bullets against the protesters.
The newspaper reported that residents tried to remove the barriers that they said prevented movement and meeting with relatives.
