4-storey Building Collapses in Alexandria, 5 Rescued

A 4-storey building collapsed on Thursday in the Wardian area, west of Alexandria, where five residents were extracted alive by the Civil Protection Forces, and the search is still underway for others.

The security services of the Alexandria Security Directorate received a notification from a Police Station about the collapse of internal parts of a property on Al-Talafari Street, and immediately the security services moved to the site.

In a statement, Sahar Shaaban, the head of the West Alexandria district, indicated that as soon as a report was received about the collapse of the building, she moved to the location of the incident, accompanied by the district's forces, ambulances, and security personnel.

She added that 5 residents were extracted, among them two children and the search is still underway for others under the rubble, pointing out that their number is unknown, given that the property has a medical analysis lab, and it is not yet known how many people were inside during the incident.

She indicated that a demolition decision had been issued for the building since 2018, and its a 4-storey and has completely collapsed.
