The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) under the Embassy of India, Cairo organized the 28th edition of the “Glimpses of India” painting competition for Egyptian school children of 17 Governorates of Egypt.
The painting competition was held in Cairo, Giza, Qalioubiya, Gharbiya, Sharqiya, Red Sea, Alexandria, Menoufiya, Bani Suef, Fayoum, Kafr Elsheikh, Beheira, Port Saed, Ismailia, Aswan, Luxor and Mynia from 20 October to 13 November 2024.
The painting competition was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Approximately 22,572 Egyptian school children from 1427 schools participated with great enthusiasm, creating amazing paintings on wide array of themes centered around India and its art and cultural heritage. This large scale and spirited participation highlights the vibrant cultural and people to people exchange between India and Egypt.
The eagerness among Egyptian school children to participate in the painting competition was palpable. The competition provided them with a unique opportunity to explore and express their creativity, drawing inspiration from India’s rich cultural heritage.
The “Glimpses of India” Painting competition is the annual painting competition organized in association with the Egyptian authorities. It is more than just a competition, it’s a bridge of interactions between India and Egypt. Over the past 28 years, Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture in Cairo has been organizing this annual painting competition in various Governorates of Egypt.
The Embassy of India will organize a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the painting competition after selection of winning entries under different categories for each Governorates by a jury consisting of Art Education Advisor and 2 other prominent artists.
