Local authorities have evacuated more than 28,000 residents from Liaoning Province in northeast China following a new wave of heavy rainfall.

The water levels in six rivers within the province have surpassed warning thresholds, prompting urgent action.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the torrential rains over Sunday and Monday brought record-high precipitation to the Xinglongtai area in the city of Panjin.

This severe weather has led eight out of the province's 14 cities to activate emergency responses at either level three or four.

The provincial weather observatory forecasts additional rainfall for today, further complicating the situation.

China employs a four-tier emergency response system to manage flood control, with level one being the most severe.
