A huge fire swept through the Vehicle Reservation Unit of the Alexandria Governorate, Sunday morning, burning 28 vehicles. No injuries were reported.
Major General Mahmoud Abu Amra Embabi, Director of Alexandria Security, received a notification from the investigations of the El Amreya Police Department about the fire.
In response, the department’s officers and civil protection forces immediately moved with an ambulance to the incident site. They succeeded in controlling the fire, preventing it from spreading to other cars.
The preliminary examination noted that the fire was caused by a short circuit as a result of bad weather. It also revealed that the unit is dedicated to preserving the stolen vehicles and abandoned cars on the streets.
On the other hand, Mohamed El-Sherif, Governor of Alexandria announced that the governorate decided to suspend work on Sunday in all government departments, except for water, sanitation, ambulance, electricity, and other necessary facilities to face the wave of bad weather that Alexandria is witnessing.
El-Sherif warned citizens not to leave homes except in the case of extreme necessity, and in the case of leaving home, all safety procedures and announced instructions must be followed in order to preserve their safety.
