Pakistani security forces announced on Thursday that they had killed 23 militants in two separate operations near the Afghan border, a week after a suicide bombing in Islamabad left 12 people dead.

The attack had been claimed by a faction linked to the Pakistani Taliban.

In an official statement, the armed forces said the militants were members of the movement or affiliated groups, accusing India of supporting them.

According to the Pakistani military, the operations took place in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The army pledged that Pakistan will continue with full force to eliminate the scourge of terrorism, supported and funded from abroad, from the country.

Islamabad accuses Kabul of harboring armed groups, particularly the Pakistani Taliban, which has carried out deadly attacks across Pakistan.

In recent months, Islamabad has also sharpened its tone toward India, accusing it of supporting hostile militant organizations.

Afghanistan and India both deny these allegations.
