Two Japan Airlines (JAL) passenger planes collided at Tokyo's Haneda Airport on Thursday morning, causing no injuries but resulting in significant operational disruptions.
The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when JAL Flight 503, scheduled for departure to Hokkaido's New Chitose Airport, was reversing out of its parking spot and collided with another aircraft moving forward into an adjacent spot. Both planes sustained damage.
Flight 503, carrying 328 passengers, was subsequently canceled.
The other aircraft, which had no passengers on board, experienced delays as it required a plane change.
Japan Airlines issued an apology for the inconvenience caused to its customers.
This collision adds to a recent spate of airfield incidents, including a Korean Air plane clipping a parked Cathay Pacific aircraft at New Chitose Airport in January, and two All Nippon Airways jets bumping wings at an Osaka airport in February.
