On Monday evening, two individuals affiliated with the Syrian regime were killed as military sites of pro-Iranian militias were targeted in the vicinity of Damascus, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The strikes, utilizing missiles, hit locations situated a few kilometers from Damascus International Airport and in the vicinity of the al-Kiswah area. The attacks led to the destruction of a site in the al-Kiswah area, as well as a site housing equipment near the airport.

Prior to this incident, the Observatory had indicated that Israeli missiles targeted no less than three regime force sites, which also housed storage facilities and military sites for Lebanese 'Hezbollah' forces and Iranian militias.

The Observatory noted that two of these sites were in the al-Kiswah region in the Damascus countryside," while the third site was located "in the southern area of the Syrian capital.

The Observatory, based in the UK with an extensive network of sources throughout Syria, had previously stated that there was no immediate information regarding human casualties.

The Syrian news agency SANA reported, citing a military source, that around 23:05 on the evening of August 21, 2023, the Israeli enemy carried out an aggression using guided missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting certain points in the vicinity of the city of Damascus. The aggression resulted in an injury to a soldier and some material losses.

Israel rarely confirms carrying out strikes in Syria, but it reiterates its commitment to counter what it describes as Iran's attempts to solidify its military presence in the country.
