US police announced that two people were killed and three wounded in a shooting near a campground in Washington state hosting people who were attending a nearby music festival on Saturday evening.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office mentioned on Saturday that it received a report of a shooting shortly before 8:30 p.m. In a camping area near the small town of George, 149 miles (239 km) east of Seattle.
Officers pursued the suspect, who was then arrested.
Organizers of the electronic music festival Beyond Wonderland said on social media that Sunday's events at the George Theater have been canceled.
The sheriff's office reported that the shootings took place at the nearby campgrounds. Party organizers described the site as an “extra camping area.”
In another incident in Chicago, US authorities pointed out that at least 20 people were wounded by gunshot wounds, and one of them died in the early hours of Sunday morning during a gathering in a parking lot in the suburbs of Chicago.
Television news footage showed a debris-strewn mall parking lot and police tape in Willowbrook, about 20 miles (32.1 km) southwest of Chicago.
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office told television stations at the scene that one person was killed and at least 19 others were injured.
