The two Egyptian students, Moamen Haitham Kamel Gaber and Fadi Saeed Al Hadi Mohamed Mahmoud, who were kidnapped in South Africa on Saturday, May 14, were successfully freed on Friday, June 10, thanks to the intensive efforts made by the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in South Africa during the past weeks in cooperation with the South African authorities and senior government officials, the ATIS Civil Aviation Academy in South Africa, the security authorities and the families of the Egyptian students.
The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to South Africa, Ahmed Al-Fadly, received the two Egyptian students and made sure that they were in good health and also phoned their families to reassure them.
In addition, Al-Fadly pointed out to the embassy’s follow-up of the incident and its developments on a daily basis.
The ambassador appreciated the efforts made by the South African authorities at the official and unofficial levels, saying that the keenness of the South African authorities to provide honest advice on how to deal with the kidnappers had a great impact on the smooth and speedy completion of the process of freeing the two Egyptian students.
