2 Dead, 3 Missing After Boat Capsizes Off Japan’s Coast

Two people have died, and three remain missing following the capsizing of a fishing boat off the Pacific coast of eastern Japan, according to official reports on Monday.

The Japanese Coast Guard received an alert shortly after 2:00 a.m. about the capsizing incident about 30 kilometers east of Kashima Port in Ibaraki Prefecture.

The ill-fated vessel carried 20 individuals, including Japanese and Indonesian crew members. While 17 people were successfully rescued, two fatalities have been confirmed, and efforts are ongoing to locate the three missing crew members.

Authorities have deployed search and rescue teams to the site, supported by helicopters and patrol boats, as they continue investigating the cause of the accident.
