Two children were injured in Jordan after an explosives-laden drone crashed in a residential neighborhood in Azraq, located in the Zarqa Governorate, according to an official military source.
The drone, which fell on Wednesday, caused significant material damage and sparked immediate concern among residents.
The Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that a technical malfunction within the drone’s operating system was the likely cause of the crash, based on initial assessments from military engineering experts.
The explosion created a crater measuring 3.2 meters in diameter and 90 centimetres deep. Debris from the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was found scattered up to 200 metres from the crash site.
Fragments from the drone also struck nearby properties, shattering the front of one home. Emergency responders, including Civil Defense teams, military engineering units, and security forces, were quickly dispatched to the scene to treat the injured and begin a full investigation into the incident.
The injured children were transported to a local hospital, and authorities are continuing to assess the scale of the damage and the circumstances surrounding the drone’s presence in the residential area.
