The first Supermoon phenomenon for 2022 will shine on May 15. May’s full moon is called “Flower Moon, in addition, this name is taken from the American Native culture.

This phenomenon occurs when the moon is in its full stage and lies at the nearest point to the Earth, that’s why the size of the moon appears to be bigger with 14% and brighter with 30%.

The best time for capturing photos of the Supermoon is at the beginning of the night when the moon starts to shine on the horizon immediately after the sunset.

Each full moon carries a certain definitive name related to the season of its shining. For example, January’s full moon is called “Wolf Moon” due to the rise of the wolves’ sounds in cold winter.

Another example is the name of April’s full moon which is “Pink Moon” due to the flourishing of flowers’ colors in the Spring.

The Director of the National Research Institute of Astronomy & Geophysics (NRIAG) Dr. Gad El Kady said that there will be a total lunar eclipse will occur next week.

The lunar eclipse will start at 3:32 am Cairo time as s Penumbral lunar eclipse which can’t be easily observed by the naked eye as it requires highly clean air.
