The Swiss start-up company (Destinus) announced the first flight of a green hydrogen passenger plane, which will shorten the flight time from Europe to Australia by only 4 hours.

Destinus has been testing its prototype aircraft for the past couple of years, announcing successful test flights of its second prototype - Eiger - at the end of 2022.

It is noteworthy Destinus, one of the emerging companies in the field of green hydrogen air transport, has been selected by the Spanish Ministry of Science to participate in a strategic initiative and obtain the necessary funding to conduct more research and development of high-speed aircraft that use green hydrogen as fuel instead from fossil fuels.

Spanish business companies, institutions and technology centers have contributed 12 billion euros to the efforts to develop this aircraft, and the development operations were carried out in partnership between Destinus and the Spanish engine manufacturer / ITP "Aero".

Trials were conducted to operate this aircraft near Madrid in order to test the hydrogen-powered engines, which were funded by a grant from the Spanish government.
