The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) has reported that the ongoing Israeli aggression has caused the forced displacement of about 1.7 million Palestinians inside the Gaza Strip. This aggression has led to the deaths of 33,000 people, most of whom are children and women. Resolving the catastrophic situation faced by civilians in Gaza should be a top priority, according to UNHCR spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani. She made this statement during a press conference at the UN office in Geneva, as reported by Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA).
The report by WAFA further highlighted that Israel continues to impose illegal restrictions on humanitarian aid entry and distribution in Gaza. Additionally, Israel has bombed all areas in the Strip.
Shamdasani emphasized that the 1.7 million forcibly displaced people in Gaza live in terrifying conditions under constant threat. As the “occupying power,” Israel must take all necessary measures to restore order and public security in the West Bank.
