This disruption has impacted around 20,000 passengers, according to Bloomberg News.
The airline had previously warned of severe travel disruptions due to the impending strike.
The strike is expected to cause significant operational damage and increased costs for the company, as stated by WestJet's President and Chief Operating Officer, Diederik Pen.
This labor action underscores ongoing tensions between WestJet management and its workforce, highlighting issues that have led to widespread travel disruptions.
As the strike continues, the airline faces increasing pressure to resolve the conflict to restore normal operations and minimize further inconvenience to passengers.
