The authorities in Haiti announced that at least 15 people were killed while 8 others are still missing following torrential rains over the past days that caused widespread flooding and several landslides in different parts of the country.
The floods forced nearly 13,400 people to leave their homes as the waters damaged hundreds of buildings across the country and turned some streets into rivers, according to the Haiti Civil Protection Agency.
Rainwater has also caused severe damage to crops in the central region of Haiti, at a time when Prime Minister Ariel Henry said he was working with local and international organizations to respond to the needs of those affected by the floods, ABC News reported.
