The 11th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) will be held between 4 and 10 March 2022, the festival announced on its official Facebook page.
LAFF Director's Sayed Fouad that the guest of honour will be Uganda due to the development of the Ugandan cinema, and its emergence in neighboring African countries.
He also expressed his sincere happiness for the presence of iconic actor Mahmoud Hemida as the festival Honorary President. Fouad continued that Hemida believes in the important role of the festival in strengthening cultural ties with the African countries.
On her side, LAFF's Manager Azza Hussainy highlighted that the forum of participating at the festival is available for all four competitions.
The listed competitions are the Long Feature Competition, Short Film Competition, Long Documentary Feature, and Diaspora that dedicated to African immigrants.
It is worthy to mention that the previous edition kicked off on March 25, and it selected Sudan as the 10th edition’s guest of honour to celebrate the history of Sudanese cinema.
Five Sudanese films were screened at LAFF including features, and documentaries that observe the progression of Sudanese cinema.
Moreover, the edition paid a tribute to influential Sudanese leader Al Sadek El Mahdi.
“You Will Die at 20” was one of the displayed films directed by Amjab Abu Alala, and written by Abu Alala and Youssef Ibrahim.
