10 Killed in Road Accident in Mexico

At least 10 people died on Saturday in a collision involving two trucks in the state of San Luis Potosi, in north-central Mexico, as reported by local authorities.

The local Prosecutor's Office stated in a release that the early morning incident in the town of Rioverde claimed the lives of five women, four minors, and one man, with an unspecified number of individuals sustaining injuries.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

Road accidents in Mexico have seen a sharp increase in recent years, escalating from 301,678 incidents in 2020 to 377,231 in 2022, according to the latest data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography.

In late January, a road accident in the northwestern state of Sinaloa resulted in 19 fatalities and 22 injuries.
