At least 10 Palestinians were killed on Monday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential apartment in central Gaza, as Israeli forces intensified their military campaign across the besieged enclave.
The attack flattened the building, leaving families trapped under the rubble, with rescue workers scrambling to recover victims amid ongoing bombardment.
Medical sources confirmed that women and children were among the dead, while several others sustained critical injuries. Eyewitnesses described scenes of devastation, with emergency teams struggling to reach the site due to debris and damaged roads.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces escalated their assault on "Kamal Adwan Hospital" in northern Gaza, one of the few remaining medical facilities still operational. Heavy shelling and airstrikes have placed the lives of patients, medical staff, and displaced families sheltering inside the hospital in grave danger.
Health officials described the situation as catastrophic, warning that any further attacks could render the hospital completely nonfunctional.
“The targeting of medical facilities and residential areas is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law,” a spokesperson for Gaza's Ministry of Health said. “Hospitals are overwhelmed, medical supplies are running out, and the wounded are dying for lack of treatment.”
The ongoing escalation has exacerbated Gaza's humanitarian crisis, with hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced and critical infrastructure severely damaged. International organizations continue to call for an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid to address the growing needs of the civilian population.
The latest attack comes amid weeks of relentless Israeli airstrikes and ground operations, pushing Gaza’s already fragile healthcare system to the brink of collapse and deepening the suffering of its residents.
