One person was killed and five others, including a police officer, were injured in a shooting incident on Sunday in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Local media outlets quoted Indianapolis Police Department Chief Christopher Bailey as saying during a press conference that two police officers in full uniform were working off-duty at a bar when a disturbance occurred in the parking lot outside.

According to local channel "Fox 32", the officers exchanged gunfire with one of the suspects, resulting in one officer being shot in the upper thigh; however, the officer is expected to recover.

Additional police personnel rushed to the scene and found four other victims in the parking lot, all with non-life-threatening injuries. A firearm was also found in the vehicle parking area.

Shortly after the shooting, a man arrived at a local hospital seeking treatment for gunshot wounds before succumbing to his injuries.

Police suspect his involvement in the incident, while investigations continue.
