Huge waves and strong winds left one person killed and 27 fishing boats damaged in Pamekasan district of East Java in Indonesia, the disaster mitigation agency said on Tuesday.
The Indonesian news agency (Antara) quoted Amin Jaber, an official in the mitigation agency, as saying that the total number of fishing boats that have been damaged as a result of heavy waves and strong winds has reached 27.
Currently, most of the fishermen in Pamekasan are unable to go to sea due to severe weather such as high waves and strong winds that could last until next week.
