A powerful tremor struck a coal mine in Radlin, southern Poland, killing one worker and injuring 11 others.
The incident occurred 800 meters underground, according to rescue officials.
Lukasz Bach, head of the Regional Medical Rescue Station in Katowice, confirmed the fatality and stated that 11 injured miners were transported to the hospital.
Among them, four sustained serious injuries, including facial and spinal trauma.
The tremor impacted an area where 29 miners were present at the time.
Emergency responders successfully evacuated the remaining workers to the surface.
Leszek Pietraszek, the head of the Polish Mining Group, noted that the risk of methane gas leakage remains in the affected area, posing additional safety challenges.
