Veteran Egyptian actress Laila Elwy and actor Bayoumi Fouad reunited for a new comedy film "Gawaza Toxic".

The cast also includes Tamer Hagras, Heidy Karam, Mohamed Anwar, Malak Koura, Nourine Abouseada, Farouk Kandil, and more.  Mahmoud Karim directed the pic from a script by Loay Elsayed.

The film marks the fifth collaboration between Elwy and Fouad after the film "Al Mustariha" (TBA), play "The Red Box" (2023), "Sugar Daddy" (2023), and “Mama Hamel” (2021).

The official synopsis reads: "Karim and Farida are about to get married. Worlds collide when their respective families meet. Karim's conservative parents, disapproving of Farida’s liberal background, resort to a series of funny tricks and pranks to stop the wedding from happening. Will their love triumph or succumb to social prejudice?".

The film is co-produced by New Century, Magic Beans Productions, and Misr International Films. Orient Films will distribute the pic overseas.

"Gawaza Toxic" is set to debut sometime later in 2024.
