The Embassy of Japan and the World Health Organization (WHO) will sign an agreement to support Egypt in addressing the health needs of injured and sick individuals from Gaza undergoing treatment in Egypt.

The signing ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday in the New Administrative Capital in the presence of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, the Minister of International Cooperation, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, the Minister of Health and Population.

Japan has taken notice of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and has provided emergency grant aid amounting to USD 10 million. This aid included USD 7 million for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and USD 3 million for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Additionally, Japan will provide further aid worth approximately USD 65 million through international organizations and non-governmental organizations.

To further support the humanitarian efforts, Japan has provided humanitarian supplies through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) twice. The first batch included humanitarian aid supplies such as tents and blankets, while the second batch consisted of 20 tons of medical consumables such as medical gauze and gloves. The Egyptian Red Crescent Society (ERC) is cooperating with Japan in delivering these humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.
