Secretary-General of the UN World of the Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili lauded the Tourism Ministry's efforts in developing the sector and congratulated Egypt on the New Hospitality Criteria.

"Once again you are showing your commitment to growing the tourism sector in a responsible and sustainable way. This new system of hotels classification will make Egypt's tourism sector even more competitive," Pololikashvili said in a televised speech.

The UNWTO chief was sure that the new criteria would better inform visitors who are planning for their trips to enjoy the marvelous things Egypt should offer.

"Better informed visitors will help drive economic growth right across Egypt," he added.

He also thanked the Tourism Ministry for its commitment to UNWTO work and values.

"Over recent years, you have guided your tourism sector back from adversity by pushing new ideas and entrepreneurship. Not only are tourist arrivals to Egypt on the rise, under your leadership, but the sector is also becoming more sustainable, more inclusive, and an example for many other destinations to follow," he further said.

He also expressed his interest in continuing the strong relationship, saying: "UNWTO stands ready to support you any way we can in the years ahead."

It is worth noting Tourism Minister Dr. Rania Al-Mashat headed for Russia to partake in the 23rd session of the UNWTO General Assembly, held from September 9 to 13 in Saint Petersburg.
