President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday with Prime Minister, Mostafa  Madbouly, Minister of Finance, Mohamed Maait, and Minister of Trade and Industry, Nevine Gamea to check on the essential commodities availability in the local market.

"During the meeting, Sisi followed-up on the executive steps undertaken to provide basic commodities to the local market," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Sisi gave directives to coordinate among the state’s relevant authorities to ensure the availability of basic food commodities and boost their strategic reserve.

The president stressed the importance of the periodic and constant follow-up on the status of stocks and contracts of the basic commodities and their sufficiency period.

He emphasized the need to strengthen efforts toward monitoring the market and tightening oversight on outlets so as to fulfill the citizens’ needs of these goods at appropriate prices and amounts, particularly with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Within this context, the meeting reviewed the most important measures undertaken to organize the movement of foreign trade of basic commodities, in light of the global economic repercussions, while confirming the positive impact of these measures on achieving stability in the average price of basic and strategic commodities in the local market.
