Amazon MGM Studios has announced the release date for the Phil Lord- and Christopher Miller-directed space adventure "Project Hail Mary" starring Ryan Gosling.

The movie is set to debut on March 20, 2026 release date. No other wide entries are on that weekend.

"Project Hail Mary", filmed for Imax, is based on Andy Weir’s 2021 novel of the same title. Drew Goddard wrote the adapted screenplay and executive produced with his Goddard Textiles partner Sarah Esberg along with Ken Kao.

Producers are Amy Pascal, Gosling, Lord, Miller, Aditya Sood, Rachel O’Connor, and Weir.

The official synopsis reads, "Set in the near future, it centers on school-teacher-turned-astronaut Ryland Grace, who wakes up from a coma afflicted with amnesia. He gradually remembers that he was sent to the Tau Ceti solar system, 12 light-years from Earth, to find a means of reversing a solar dimming event that could cause the extinction of humanity."

Amazon MGM has a hopeful sleeper this late spring in Luca Guadagnino’s romantic sports movie "Challengers", starring Zendaya and opening April 26. Reviews are currently at 96% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, two points higher than Guadagnino’s Oscar-nominated "Call Me By Your Name".
