North Korea has announced its intention to launch three additional spy satellites for military reconnaissance in 2024 as part of its strategic goals to enhance its military capabilities and monitor enemy forces, according to the North Korean Central News Agency.

The agency's report stated, "Based on the successful launch and operation of the first reconnaissance satellite in 2023, a mission to launch three additional reconnaissance satellites in 2024 has been announced to significantly advance space science and technology."

North Korea claimed the successful launch of its first military reconnaissance satellite on November 21, which reportedly transmitted images of the U.S. White House, the Pentagon, U.S. military bases, and "specific areas" in South Korea.

This achievement followed two previous unsuccessful attempts in the past year, with the Chollima-1 rocket crashing into the sea.

The satellite launch has heightened tensions in the region, leading the United States, Australia, Japan, and South Korea to impose new sanctions on North Korea.

Pyongyang has not yet released any images from the new satellite, leaving analysts and foreign governments uncertain about its capabilities.
