Chairman of the Arab Contractors Mohsen Salah inspected on Thursday the obelisk of King Ramses II after the construction company completed its installation in its new home, El-Alamein.

The company transferred the obelisk from the Andalusia garden "Messalla garden" in Zamalek to the northern city of El-Alamein to be one of its new hallmarks.

The obelisk was transported using a giant German-made sweeper running on 128 rubber tires after lifting it using a crane with a capacity of 600 tons.

The Arab Contractors Company attempted to remove the obelisk from its base a few days ago until it was able to move it to El-Alamein, which is currently receiving excellent attention from the Egyptian state.

It is worth mentioning that the obelisk was originally found in the site of Tanis "San Hagar" in Sharqia Governorate before being transferred to the park, which was later named after it.

In 1962, under the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser, a decision was made to move the obelisk near the Cairo Tower to be one of the park's landmarks.

The Obelisk of Ramses II remained for 59 years as one of the most important landmarks of the Nile island of Gezira.
