CAIRO, Sept 13 (SEE)- The Egyptian Grand Museum received on Thursday 71 artifacts from the Al-Bahnasa archaeological store in Minya Governorate.

Tareq Tawfiq, the general supervisor of the museum said the collection includes sarcophagus of nobleman Nes-Ptah’s, son of Thebes’ and overseer Montumhat. The sarcophagus is inscribed with hieroglyphic texts and weighs five tons.

He added that the collection also includes a sarcophagus made of rosette granite for User Montu, weighing three tonnes, in addition to three large statues depicting the goddess Sakhmet seated on the throne holding the symbol of life, and crowned with a sun disk.

For his part, Eissa Zidan, the director of the initial restoration and the transfer of antiquities in the museum, confirmed that the staff received all the antiquities and compared them to the records.

He explained that the team packed the heavy statues using the L shape method, which is one of the safest ways to transport artifacts, taking into account the use of safe packaging materials and bonding belts on all pieces.

He noted that the the transfer of the artifacts from the store to the restoration center of the Grand Egyptian Museum took five hours.
